Cameroon to host Miss Teen Africa in 2023
Cameroon will host the Miss Teen Africa pageant outside the UK for the first time in history in 2023.
The organisation revealed on social media on Monday that the first-ever global teen competition for young women of African descent would take place in June. The fourth edition of the highly anticipated event will feature nearly 30 young women from Africa and Europe competing for the title in categories such as evening gowns, traditional costumes, and interviews. The evening will come to a close when the departing Miss Teen Africa crowns her successor after a prolonged postponement caused by the global pandemic.
According to Yomi Adegoke, president of the Miss Teen Africa Organisation, the Land of the Indomitable Lions has long been a top contender for hosting the pageant.
Cameroon’s rich cultural history, arts, entertainment, and music scene have propelled the country to the top of the list for the upcoming pageant, which we hope will promote beauty in African heritage and lead to an increase in tourism, Adegoke concluded.
“Hosting the fourth edition of Miss Teen Africa is indeed a unique, prestigious opportunity to significantly showcase Cameroon not only to Africans but to the rest of the world,” Cameroon organisers said in a press release. “Miss Teen Africa will bring contestants and delegations from 30 countries, fans, celebrity judges and performers, journalists, and global influencers to Cameroon for a week of cultural exchange and support for local businesses.”
