Sangwani Harawa becomes the 2nd Miss Teen Africa UK
On Saturday 10th of December 2016 Sangwani Harawa became the 2nd Miss Teen Africa. The Sixth form student representing her country Malawi, fought off ten other contestants to head the catwalk at the grand finale of the beauty pageant in the elegant surrounds of EastHam Town Hall.
The aspiring media student put on a show with a dance display in traditional dress and a heartfelt speech about her hopes for the future of African Youth.
The evening comprised a number of catwalk stages including elegant ball gown, Cultural and Talent displays as well as musical performances from up and coming African artists.
Speaking after she was crowned with the Miss Teen Africa tiara, Miss Harawa said: “I can’t believe it! We did it! I want to thank all my fans, those who have supported me and my close family in UK and Malawi. God bless everyone who wished me well.” The organizers who aimed to use the event to strengthen the voice and representation of young African women also expressed their gratitude. It was a great turn out said Yomi the founder of Miss Teen Africa and it can only get better with the amount of talent and passion we see in our young women today. I would also use this opportunity to congratulate Sangwani for a job well done said the founder. Sangwani who will be engaging in major charity work in UK and Africa is also set to represent Africa at the Miss Teen Model universe pageant in Spain next year.
